A Brief Introduction to SEO and Its Benefits

If you are running any business in the age of the internet you cannot survive without digital marketing. Digital Marketing is a must if you want your business to meet with the current speed of advertising and competitive market online. SEO is of the utmost importance when it comes to the presence of your business in the online universe and especially search.

Now, what is SEO?

SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization, and as the word suggests in doing SEO you optimize your website as per Google’s guidelines so that it can get higher in search results. Google search receives most of the traffic in the world and all of that traffic can come to your website if you are doing SEO the correct way.

There are mainly two parts of SEO that you should be aware of. One is Onsite SEO and the second is Offsite SEO.

Onsite SEO:

Onsite SEO means the efforts and changes that you are going to make to your website. The most important things from the Onsite point of view are the address of the website, title, and meta tags of the website which can include meta description and h1, h2, h3 tags. You integrate your keywords that you want to rank for in those tags without spamming them.

Other important points when doing onsite SEO are the design of the website, how fast it loads on the browser, how your website is structured, and user experience. The content you post on every page of your website is also very crucial in getting you high rankings.

Offsite SEO

Offsite SEO includes all the efforts that you make outside your website for the same reason which is getting higher rankings in search engines. Creating your social media signals and making high authority links comes in this type of SEO.

Also, you have to spread the word about your website by posting the links on other websites by guest posting, press releases, or article submission. In the early days’ directory submission was the best way to get the backlinks but now it is forbidden by Google and your website can get blacklisted if you use too many directory submissions.

Benefits of SEO

  • The main benefit of SEO in my opinion is that it used an inbound marketing strategy. Outbound marketing is when you are shoving the things into the face of the user whether he needs them or not. But in inbound marketing, you pull the user towards you because the reason he has typed your keyword in search is that he needs your product or services.
  • SEO is totally free of cost if you have done your part right. No search engine charges you to show the search results. You can save a lot of marketing budget if you are sharp at doing SEO of your online businesses.  Although you will have to spend a little in the start to follow all the practices of SEO that we mentioned above.
  • Even if the ads are shown above the organic results, the research shows that 71.33 percent of the total clicks from the search go to organic results. This means if you are not doing a good job at SEO you are missing nearly 70 percent of the marketplace.
  • SEO also helps you keep up or even stay ahead of your competitors. Most companies these days are using SEO techniques to get higher rankings on search engine and if you have your own strategy for SEO you can get ahead of your competitors.

So, if you own an online business and you want it to be successful and competitive. You should really start focusing on your Search Engine Optimization and start making SEO strategies.
